'Guardians of the Galaxy' Tops Foreign Box Office
According to Variety the “Guardians of the Galaxy” had reached the top of the foreign box office hit. It was the Chinese audiences who powered it and claimed the Star Lord as their own.
On the other side of the news, China Daily had cited that “Guardians of the Galaxy has received different reviews from Chinese critics and audiences. This is mainly because it has terrible subtitles. They have found out 80 translation mistakes, and it was one of the movie’s greatest problems. Aside from that, there were also subtitle that failed to show the original feel of the film like puns, jokes, and homophones. With that, they have doubted the professionalism of the movie translator.
Marvel film sacked $23.1 million in foreign country, and the bulk of it came from People’s Republic. Those great results had pushed the space for a total of $732.6 million making it to be in the seventh film to pass the $700 million globally.
The “Dracula Untold” was busy squeezing the “Guardian’s” feet. The movie had bitten off $22.5 million from fifty-five different foreign countries, it driven to a total of $136.4 million. The Universal had released topped the box office in different markets such as Peru, Thailand, Vietnam, and Russia. There were still six territories that need to open. It includes Hungary, Brazil, Uruguay, and Spain where the movie will have its debut.
“Gone Girl” got the third place in the foreign box office with $20.2 million from fifty-seven different territories. The story was about the mysterious woman who disappears and a heartless husband whom she left behind. This movie has made it to $201.7 million from the opening. “Gone Girl” has a great chance to pass “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” that garnered $333.9 million.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” was not the only movie release on summer. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” got $20 million from thirty three territories. It pushed globally for up to $374.9 million, great for the fourth place.
“Annabelle” got the fifth place that soared $150 million after it picked up the $19.2 million from 51 markets. This was a beautiful return on Warner Bros and New Line’s huge investment.
