Sprint Offers Samsung Gear S Smartwatch Users Wireless Service Plan for their 3G Capable Standalone Smartwatch, Specs and Features of Samsung's Gear S
Samsung's new smartwatch, Samsung Gear S was recently made official, and it was already announced that the new Samsung smartwatch will be available in all major US carriers. The carriers include AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile. This time, Sprint is also getting into the scene, offering a wireless service plan for the new Gear S.
As many of you may already be familiar with the features and specs of the Gear S, the Samsung's new smartwatch comes with a 3G capability, and this feature makes the Gear S stand out from the recent smartwatches. It's basically a standalone device. This means that Gear S is able to function independently, as if its own smartphone device, without linking to a different mobile device. Samsung Gear S comes with its own SIM card slot, so you can receive and make calls with the Gear S alone. Other than that, the Gear S comes with a 2-inch Super AMOLED display with a 360 x 480 pixels resolution, a dual core 1GHz processor, a 512MB RAM, a 4GB internal memory storage, a 400mAh battery, while running on Tizen OS. It's also water and dust resistant.
Back to the Sprint news, Phandroid obtained an internal Sprint document that details the wireless service plan for the new Gear S, stating:
"Trusted sources close to the matter have revealed to Phandroid that the Samsung Gear S will have a special plan on Sprint, and likely any other carrier it heads to once it launches. As such, you'll need a plan to tie it to and you have one of two options for achieving that".
