'Guardians of the Galaxy 2': Star Lord and Company Returns to the Big Screen in 2017
After the success of the first film of Guardians of the Galaxy, director James Gunn has confirmed that there will be a second installment to hope for. As of October 21, 2014, the action adventure Marvel film grossed an estimate of $327 million domestic and $404 million in other countries, for an estimated total of $731 million worldwide.
James Gunn made a teaser in his statement in Variety. "It's going to be a really surprising open. What happens is all the characters are killed in the first 10 minutes," he jokingly said.
"In a really horribly brutal fashion." The director also spoke his thoughts in a statement in the same site. "I spent all day on August 1, the day the first movie was released, writing "Guardians 2,"' Gunn said.
"I was so excited about it and I was finally able to let go of the last one and begin the second one. I always saw this as a universe, not just as one story," he added. Gunn also informs what the fans can hope for from the upcoming DVD release of "Guardians".
Aside from the team's come back in the second installment, there will also be new female team members, as per Christian Post. The director also denied a crossover for the Marvel movie. The hit movie starred Chris Pratt as Peter Quill as or -Lord as he teams up with Zoe Saldana as Gamora the human weapon, Dave Bautista as warrior Drax the Destroyer, along with the voices of Bradley Cooper as Rocket the Raccoon, and Vin Diesel as Groot the tree-like humanoid. Meanwhile, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb previewed the forthcoming television series in The Hollywood Reporter. "This is a very exciting time for the Marvel Animation Studio as we get to explore the cosmic side of the Marvel universe by developing the first-ever Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy animated series," Loeb said. "After starring in the biggest movie of 2014, everyone wants more of Star-Lord and his crew - now they'll get it," he added. The second installment of Guardians of the Galaxy is set to premiere in theaters and cinemas on July 28, 2017.
