Play Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - Unveils An Unofficial Third-Person Mod
After its launch recently, modders have already gotten the new perspective on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Thanks to its standalone mod, the latest entry in the famous first-person shooter game can be played with a third-person through an over-the-shoulder camera angle.
The trailer was made by TFXLive, a YouTuber who also released the same mod for the Borderlands 2, the mod is perfect for players who prefer games with third-person shooting features like Uncharted and Gears of War. It is especially great for Borderland, considering the extensive list of custom character skins of the game that you can only see in the pause menu. It can also be seen by some players.
According to Wired, the very first Borderlands was quickly modded into third-person through a simple edit on the game's .ini file, which was commented by TFXLive. However, with the Borderlands 2, the code for the series does not accept such edits and a change had to be created for the game memory. The series of Borderlands runs on the modified version of Unreal Engine 3 and its mod takes advantage of the fixed behind-the-character camera, which exists in majority of Unreal versions.
The Pre-Sequel mod is a standalone compared to the past third-person mod for the Borderlands 2 that required different third-party programs in injecting the script to the game. Another good thing is the fluid transition of the mode to first-person for a much accurate iron-sights aiming. However, one drawback that you may not like is that you won't see the melee weapons of the characters.
The mod works very well with a keyboard and mouse control scheme. However, if you want to play it with an Xbox pad, it might take a bit of input remapping in the code files of the game.
When it comes to sound and visuals, The Sixth Axis reported that it is pretty much identical to the Borderlands 2, yet it is quite good looking and skyboxes can wow you. There is also tons of Australian voice acting, a fact that the game itself lampoons. As you enter a particular area, there is also some texture pop-in.
