Destiny News and Updates: Destiny DLC 'The Dark Below Expansion" to Release in December Raises Cap Level and Incorporates New Details
Today Activision and Bungie announced the first expansion for Destiny called the Dark Below would launch on December 9 across all platforms. Apparently, it features new weapons and gear and a fresh story co-op and multiplayer activities. The developer has also gone into details about the new content that we will be seeing in order to justify the purchase price. Along with the expected new weapons and armor, the Light level cap is going to raise to 32 with five new bounty slots being added to the overall. According to the developers, the expanded story is going to focus on new character Eris, who has spent years hiding among the Hive only to come forward with a warning.
The Hive are trying to summon the god, Crota in order to destroy the Earth. Eris is going to be found in the tower where she will offer the special guests with some new missions of course where you as the player will be able to increase you Light and get new rewards. According to Bungie president Harold Ryan, "Destiny was created as a living universe, which has allowed us to improve the experience post launch in real-time. It also gives us insight into the things players are looking for in new content. We've seen from feedback that people want new activities, gear and weapons, and of course the immensely popular Raid. The community helps shape our development decisions and that's really important to us."
Some of the other additions for the new expansion include a new cooperative strike, the will of Crota, which supposedly pits one against Omnigul and a new six player Raid. As concerns the PvP front, there are three new arenas which include the Pantheon, set in the Black Garden inside a Vex Temple, Shyshock, an old interplanetary defense array and the Cauldron, an abandoned Hive ritual site focused on close combat. The Dark Below will also contain new weapons, and gear to earn including Legendary and Exotic items.
