Nowadays more and more novels written for young adults are getting movie treatment. From Maze Runner to Twilight and The Hunger Games, it seems that the writers who are writing for this demographic are just writing books that translate well. The newest addition to this list is The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight which is written by Jennifer E. Smith. This is not the first one of her books to get a movie treatment. Dustin Lance Black is set to direct the movie; Bruna Papandrea, Caroline Kaplan and Steve Hutensky are set to produce the movie. While the book is called The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight the movie title is expected to be Love at First Sight.

The whole story takes place in the span of 24 hours and starts with teenager Hadley who is late for her plane that will take her to England where her father is getting married to new woman. Late and with her next flight in three hours she has no option but to sit at the terminal and wait for the flight. While there she meets the charming British boy Oliver and is no doubt swept off her feet. The two get to talking about their families and we find out that Hadley feels abandoned by her father and that his absence was felt. In as much as there is a budding romance the story also explores the angle of a growing girl who needs to make peace with whatever perceived past evils and move into young womanhood. The end has a touching scene where she dances with her father that the book fans will certainly be looking for in the book.

The movie is still in pre-production so the cast is still a mystery however Hailey Steinfeld has been cast to play the protagonist and now all they have to do is find a cute English boy to act opposite her. The release date is still unknown but we will definitely keep you updated.
