Glen Campbell Returns Home & Wife Kim Gives an Update on the Singer's Health

In 2011 country music veteran and committed Christian Glen Campbell has been diagonsed with Alzheimer's disaease. Since the spring of 2014, Campbell has been living in a care facility. However, recently Campbel's wife Kim reveals that the "Gentle on My Mind" singer has returned home.
Kim continues to inform us of her husband's health conditions. The singer is currently in the "late stage six out of seven stages" of the disease, according to his wife, and "his disease is marching on."
"We're trying it; it's been challenging." She confesses. "He punched me in the eye, gave me a black eye - had a black eye for two weeks," she continues. "It's really hard to cope with."
The reason that the country legend punched her, Kim Campbell explains, is because of the disease's degeneration of his brain; combative responses like that are typical of a lot of Alzheimer's patients. Campbell says that her husband generally exhibits such behavior when he's getting bathed or changed out of his clothing.
"He can be combative ... so that's an ongoing challenge," she explains, "but [we] just take it one day at a time."
Campbell has been married to Kimberly "Kim" Woollen since 1982. Woollen was a Radio City Music Hall "Rockette" when she and Glen met on a blind date in 1981. They have three children together, Cal, Shannon and daughter Ashley who have joined their father on stage since 2010 as part of his touring band. Campbell, who was raised in the Church of Christ, and Woollen both joined a Baptist church in Phoenix. In a 2008 interview they said that they have been adherents of Messianic Judaism for two decades.
Despite the continuing breakdown of Campbell's brain, he is physically healthy and generally cheerful. He has aphasia - the inability to communicate verbally - and doesn't typically understand anything that anyone says to him, but a few phrases remain grounded in his brain. Kim Campbell says that her husband still says simple phrases such as "I love you" and "Where you been?"
