Casey J Scores a Second Top 5 with "I'm Yours"
Gospel music new artist Casey J has just scored another Top 5 on the Billboard Magazine Gospel Airplay chart with her sophomore radio smash "I'm Yours." The uplifting, guitar-edged anthem follows the astounding success of the Atlanta native's debut radio single "Fill Me Up" that spent 14 weeks at #1 on Billboard's Gospel Airplay chart and eight weeks at #1 on its Hot Gospel Songs hybrid chart in 2015.
The soul-stirring song of divine devotion hails from Casey J's best-selling #1 album "The Truth" (Marquis Boone Enterprises, LLC/Tyscot Records, LLC), a live set recorded at Atlanta's Fresh Start Church where she serves as the Sunday morning worship leader. Amazon.com will have the album on sale for $5 from January 29th through February 26th while "I'm Yours" will be digitally downloadable for 69 cents.
The project has earned four Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations in the category of Song of the Year ("Fill Me Up'), New Artist of the Year, Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year and Urban/Inspirational Single or Performance of the Year. The 31st annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards take place Saturday, February 20th at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
Casey J started her career when she sang Will Reagan's tune "Fill Me Up" at Fresh Start Church. It received such a positive response that the church's pastor, Marquis Boone. He decided to have Casey J record the song. It was released to the radio in spring 2014. It hit the top ten of the US Billboard Gospel Airplay chart that spring and reached the number 1 spot in 2015. Casey J has been described by The Chicago Defender as "gospel's newest darling".
The song "Fill Me Up" is featured on Casey J's debut album, The Truth, released April 21, 2015 by Tyscot Records. The album has reached number 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart and 131 on the US Billboard 200. The Truth was recorded live on January 30, 2015, at the Fresh Start Church.
