Watch Randy Travis in What Could be His Final Movie "The Price"

Prior to his illness, country music and Christian music veteran Randy Travis did have a role in what could have been his last movie. The Price features Travis playing the role of a dying country music searching for his illegitimate son. The movie is set for release to DVD and Netflix on June 15, but this weekend there will be a showing in Opelousas, La.
The movie also features the Voice's James Dupré who plays Travis' son. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Dupre speaks of speaking with Travis. "It was a dream come true," Dupré says of working with the country music legend.
"I remember the first day he showed up on set, I was really excited to meet him and unsure what to expect. Before I even had a chance to worry, he came up to me and shook my hand, pulled out his guitar and said he wanted to show me a new song he'd written. I couldn't believe it! So we jammed out for a bit, then went to work.
"He's such a great person and his commitment to both acting and singing inspires me," he continues. "Throughout the shooting of the film, he showed me tips and made our scenes easier for me because he made it so believable."
After the release of 1999's A Man Ain't Made of Stone, Travis shifted away from mainstream country and focused on gospel. During this time, he recorded the albums Inspirational Journey (2000), Rise and Shine (2002), and Worship & Faith (2003). The single "Three Wooden Crosses" from the Rise and Shine album reached No. 1 and won the CMA song of the year in 2003. That same year, Travis ranked No. 13 on CMT's 40 Greatest Men of Country Music. Additionally, he continued to act in film and television; he appeared in several episodes and in the series finale of Touched by an Angel.
