Emmy Awards 2014 on NBC To Be Hosted by SNL Alum & 'Late Night' Host Seth Meyers
The Emmy Awards have announced that "Saturday Night Live" alum and current host of "Late Night" with Seth Meyers on NBC will be the host for this year's Emmy Awards. The ceremony is set to air on his network, NBC, on Aug. 25 and will be produced by 15-time Emmy winner Don Mischer.
Seth Meyers will join a long list of late-night hosts over the years who have emceed the Emmys, including Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brien, and even Johnny Carson, for four years straight in the 1970's. Will Meyers bring along some of his old SNL cast to help him out throughout the evening? We will have to wait and see.
NBC's President of Late Night and Alternative Programming Paul Telegdy praised the 40-year-old comedian in an official press release saying, "Seth's expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at 'SNL,' as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys."
"Seth is such a talented performer and writer, and we know he will bring something unique to hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards," added Bruce Rosenblum, Chairman and CEO of the Television Academy.
Meyers replaced Jimmy Fallon as host of "Late Night" who, took over "The Tonight Show" to replace Jay Leno just two months ago and now landing one of entertainment's biggest hosting gigs, it's safe to say that Meyers is having a good 2014.
Tune in to watch Seth Meyers host the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC.
