Hip-hop Duo Social Club Misfits Announce the Release of "The Misadventures of Fern & Marty"

Miami hip-hop duo Social Club Misfits are excited to announce their new album The Misadventures of Fern & Marty. Set for release January 13, The Misadventures of Fern & Marty represents a new chapter for Social Club Misfits. It'll be their first album on a major label as they signed to Capitol Records earlier this year.
"The album is a combination of styles and influences from our city and cultures, which makes this album very eclectic," states Marty. "We live in Florida and it is so diverse, there are so many cultures and backgrounds. We wanted to capture that."
Featuring production by Wit and 42 North, Ruslan, Amari and Ray Rock fans will experience everything from soul, trap, island and more as well as includes appearances by Andy Mineo, Chris Batson, and Tree Giants. '"The Misadventures of Fern & Marty' could best be described as the journey every person has becoming an adult," states Fern. "This is an album about life...it's the good, the bad and it's real. We continue to use humor and emotion, with every song having an underlining message."
They call the album a "true human experience" and walk through their lives. "To be who I want to be, there is always something that'll derail you," continues Marty using the idea of marriage as an example. "I wanted to date my wife, but before I met her, I met three other girls and the stories are crazy. Life is a journey, not a destination. This is our journey to get where we are right now. Just making music and having fun doing it."
The Misadventures of Fern & Marty and the next chapter in the Social Club Misfits' career comes at a time where Christian rap is not only gaining more mainstream acceptance, but secular artists start to embrace more gospel sounds. Marty says collaborations from Kanye West and Chance The Rapper working with Kirk Franklin to the viral noise the #UNameItChallenge presented all goes back to the human experience.
"In gospel, you can hear pain and salvation," he said. "In the gospel genre, it's been like marginalized to where no one knows that it can actually exist. These collaborations are pretty tight. I wish in the future, we could do it. Most of these artists grew up in the church. Whether you do music for Christians or not, people have stories. I think that everyone's story needs to be heard. Now, it's almost coming full circle."
