Foo Fighters Dave Grohl HBO Show on Recording Studios Coming Fall 2014 (VIDEO)
The Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl, has been making a new series for HBO detailing work in music studios. Grohl announced he will be premiering a new HBO series that will document Foo Fighters recording a different legendary studios in eight different cities including Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC and New York.
They released a press release that explains: "One song was recorded in each city, every song featuring local legends sitting in, and every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process. Each episode delves into the singular regional identity of each city-how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns-ultimately celebrating their common bond: Every artist that appears in the show, regardless of genre or locale, started as an average kid with the universal dreams of making music and making it big."
The first episode of the new HBO series will premiere on the eve of Foo Fighter's 20th anniversary as a band. Grohl also served as director for the project. Grohl released a documentary film called Soundcity that went through the history of the famous recording studio and his journey to eventually recover the sound board and bring it into his home studio to keep making music with it since Soundcity had to shut its doors. That film-making experience must have given him the interest and confidence to move ahead with this new series. More details to come soon.
The Foo Fighters have also officially confirmed some details for their highly-anticipated eighth studio album. The record, with no official title yet, will serve as the follow-up to 2011′s Wasting Light and be released through Roswell/RCA Records. It is expected that the album release will come out around the same time as the HBO series airs in the Fall.
