Christian Radio Broadcast Soul2Soul Celebrates Their 1000th Program
One of Christian music's leading weekly broadcasts "Soul2Soul" celebrates its 1000th show this weekend. The broadcast airs on more than 750 stations in the US and 41 countries around the world, the special 1000th edition of Soul2Soul will feature exclusive interviews with Christian artists: MercyMe, Francesca Battistelli, and Michael W. Smith.
Since "Soul2Soul" creation in 1994 with Chris Coppernoll, Johnny Hale and Mike Becht, the program has interviewed 419 Christian artists, including Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, TobyMac, Jeremy Camp, Natalie Grant, Skillet, Casting Crowns, Newsboys, Point of Grace, Jars of Clay, Selah, Rebecca St. James, Third Day, NewSong, Jason Crabb, Plus One, Take 6 and Guy Penrod. Throughout its programming, Soul2Soul has shared the microphone with pioneers of the genre, including Sandi Patty, DeGarmo & Key, Twila Paris, Michael Card, Whiteheart, Matthew Ward, Steve Taylor, Larnelle Harris, Wayne Watson, Steve Green and the late Rich Mullins, among many others.
"When Chris Coppernoll, Johnny Hale and I started Soul2Soul almost 20 years ago, it was our hope to encourage and inspire others by sharing the stories of the artists who make the music we love," said Mike Becht, executive producer and host. "We had no idea when we began that over the course of two decades we would come to discover that God was writing another story, one of His faithfulness and goodness such as He has shown to all of us here at Soul2Soul. Our 1000th show isn't a testament to our faithfulness-it's a testimony to His."
In addition to the radio show, the Soul2Soul brand has grown to include a successful book, Soul2Soul, written by Chris Coppernoll and published by Word Publishing; a series of live Soul2Soul Honors events; and, in 2000, a 20-city concert tour. In addition, Soul2Soul Journal, a daily one minute news feature, launched in 1998.
