Hillsong-Based thelukasband Releases "Counter Culture"

Hillsong-based thelukasband, a Worship Movement from Sydney, Australia, has released it's debut album 'Counter Culture'. Recorded over the last 3 years in studios, churches, hotel rooms and plane trips all over the world - Counter Culture is a challenge to all of us around the world that in the current state of our society we need to choose to live as Roman's 12:2 says: 'Do not to be conformed to the pattern of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind.'
"We feel it's a much needed reminder that we sensed is strongly on God's heart and mind, for us to stand out and be different from the world we see around us", says the band. "Not to just blend in and act or believe something just because everyone else around us does or bow to the pressures of political correctness, and people pleasing.
We are called to be a light shining in the darkness, a city on a hill, a firm foundation amongst the storms of life, a catalyst of joy, peace and freedom, and a counter culture message of truth in love in the midst of the confusion of a lost and perishing world. We hope you enjoy it, we've put as much love, creativity, worship and sacrifice into it as we could."
Directed by Luke Munns, who grew up at Hillsong Church and stepped up from behind the drum kit of the globally renowned Hillsong UNITED and started leading worship at youth conferences and summer camps. He then recorded and released his first EP simply entitled 'LUKAS Demo' which gained a dedicated international fan base as the downloads went well into the hundreds of thousands, maxing out bandwidth & crashing servers. The band then began work on the follow up record. Bringing in producer Brendan Anthony (who has recorded INXS, Midnight Oil, Jimmy Barnes, George, Able & Australian Idol artists) and featuring guitarist Michael Guy Chislett (The Academy Is, Butch Walker, Hillsong UNITED & Young & Free) the result was the highly acclaimed second EP titled 'You & Me' (available here on iTunes).
Forging ahead, evolving their sound and live experience has seen them share the stages with such diverse acts as Newsboys, Delirious?, MXPX, Switchfoot, Antiskeptic, Angela's Dish, The Getaway Plan, Project 86, Guy Sebastian & Brooke Fraser. Their passion, excellence and ministry focus has also taken them to mainstage festivals such as Blackstump Festival, Big Exo Day, Parachute Festival and Hillsong Conference. They also performed 'Feels Like Home' on MTV for the NOKIA Be Heard competition and placed 2nd out of all unsigned bands in Australia.
The band then wrote and recorded their first worship single 'Shine Your Glory' with the legendary Blair Simmons (Something For Kate, Brooke Fraser) at the mixing helm. The single speaks about dealing with holding onto faith as we deal with issues of this world and through it all find a way to show God's love and light to those around us.
Recent singles Abandoned (Ft. Northie) and Heaven On The Earth debuted at #1 on the Australian iTunes (Inspirational) alongside artists such as Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Matt Redman, Darlene Zschech and Bethel Music.
LUKAS have a passion to use music and creative expression and innovation to create an atmosphere for the presence of God and to bring glory to God throughout the Earth.
