USA stumbled into the round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup but have a chance to win a big game today to keep their tournament play alive. The U.S. team continues today with the match up against Belgium. You can watch the USA vs. Belgium game live online from ESPN at 3 pm ET from Brazil HERE.
The United States haven't won a match in their last two games, with allowing Portugal to score in extra time to give a 2-2 draw and losing 1-0 to Germany. They were able to advance though because of the points system to get them to their game today. From now on though, if the U.S. want to advance, they have to actually win the game as ties do not exist anymore and games are decided on penalty shots if needed.
The United States Jozy Altidore is expected to be ready to go for the game today, helping out Clint Dempsey in their offensive front and replacing Brad Davis.
Belgium coach Coach Marc Wilmots brought many talented young players to this World Cup and maybe the greatest national team they have assembled. Belgium will head into the game against the U.S. with injury and suspension concerns including backup full-back Anthony Vanden Borre (broken ankle), midfielder Steven Defour (suspended), Vincent Kompany (will face a late fitness test) and Thomas Vermaelen is out. Romelu Lukaku may be replaced by youngster Divock Origi as well.
Projected lineups:
Belgium (4-2-3-1): Thibaut Courtois; Jan Vertonghen, Vincent Kompany, Daniel van Buyten, Toby Alderweireld; Axel Witsel, Marouane Fellaini; Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, Dries Mertens; Romelu Lukaku.
United States (4-4-1-1): Tim Howard; DaMarcus Beasley, Matt Besler, Omar Gonzalez, Fabian Johnson; Jermaine Jones, Kyle Beckerman, Michael Bradley, Graham Zusi; Clint Dempsey; Jozy Altidore.
