On Stage: Sir Paul’s Back, Kanye Booed
After battling viral infection for two months, Sir Paul McCartney's back in the concert circuit, performing in Albany, New York last July 5. He delighted audiences with classics from the Beatles, Wings and hits from his solo career.
The 72-year old's illness, which began in May, has led to the cancellation of scheduled shows in Japan, South Korea, and the US for his "Out There" tour.
Clocking in at almost three hours, McCartney's set list included "Eight Days a Week," "Hey Jude," "Let it Be," songs from his latest album, and tracks from the Wings era such as "Another Day" and "1985." He later on paid tribute to former band mates John Lennon, George Harrison and the legendary Jimi Hendrix.
McCartney has 19 more shows in the US; one of those will be at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, where the Beatles had their last concert in 1966.
If McCartney received a warm welcome, Kanye West, on the other hand, was booed on stage yet again as he performed at the Wireless Festival in London last July 4.
During his closing set, the rapper also known as Kim Kardashian's husband wore a studded mask and then went into a 15-minute rant against the fashion industry, consumerism, fame and public perception.
"F-k saving face and what it's supposed to mean, it's about living my dream," he said.
Many fans left his show during the impromptu sermon. West was booed three weeks earlier, also for the same reason, at Tennesee's Bonaroo Music & Arts Festival.
