'Mission Impossible 5' Release Date, Updates, Female Lead Cast Announced [PICTURE]
Mission: Impossible 5 is still a year and a half away, with a release date of Christmas Day 2015, but more information is coming out about the action movie. The newest casting addition announced is the 30-year-old actress, Rebecca Ferguson. She is best known for her role on BBC's "The White Queen" for which her performance was nominated for a Golden Globe. Ferguson will also star alongside Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming action movie Hercules.
Rebecca will be joining Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner in the new installment of the action packed series. Mission: Impossible 5 will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie the writer is Drew Pearce. The director previously worked with Tom on the film Jack Reacher. Cruise will be back to reprise the role of Ethan Hunt as well as produce. Jeremy Renner will return as William Brandt.
The Christmas Day 2015 release will have strong competition at the box office, with Star Wars: Episode VII and Warcraft having opened a week earlier; in addition, Kung Fu Panda 3 opens two days before MI5, while Ben Affleck's Live By Night also opens on Christmas Day.
The last Mission: Impossible film, Ghost Protocol, was Tom Cruise's largest-grossing film of his career. He also riding high off his movie Edge Of Tomorrow, which has done $400 million worldwide. Cruise has had his troubles in recent years being a top-selling movie star, so it looks like he still has strong international appeal to carry future movies.
