"Fargo" Picked Up For Season 2 and Producers Reveal Cast and Plot Spoilers
"Fargo" is enjoying success that many were surprised by. The show received 18 Emmy nominations, and was almost immediately picked up for a second season. Not only was it greenlighted for another run, but producers also released details on the events of season 2 very soon after it was given the okay for a second season.
Fans were not tantalized by a long wait, that's for sure. Noah Hawley and Warren Littlefield made an appearance Monday evening at the Television Critics Association to dish on season 2. While it is still far too early to give away TOO much, they still revealed some crucial information about the location and time period of season 2.
This season will take place in Fargo, North Dakota, and Luverne, Minnesota. "I think going forward it would be fun to start in a wintry environment and change over the course of the season," said Hawley. "That region is a character in the show. That's part of the personality."
Producers also gave away some information about one key character: Lou Solverson, played by Keith Carradine. Although Carradine will not be reprising his role, a younger man will be cast to portray the star of the 1979 Sioux Falls incident.
"I spoke to Allison Tolman (Molly) this morning and told her that unless she can channel her four-year-old self, we wouldn't be able to have her in season two," said Hawley. He refuted any rumor that any of season one's cast would be returning to reprise their priginal roles. "Lou [is now] a 33-year-old man, recently back from Vietnam. We would meet Molly's mother, and we may learn what happened to her."
The show was scheduled to shoot from January through May, and so we are likely to see its return sometime this fall.
