Audrey Assad Covers Sade's "Pearls"

Singer and songwriter Audrey Assad releases her first single from her forthcoming album of covers and originals today. She has recorded her own version of Sade's "Pearls." Giving the 1992 album cut a new makeover including a new piano arrangement, Assad puts her own signature on this classic song.
"I am bursting at the seams with excitement about this and the whole project that's following it," Assad reveals. "Think...covers AND originals. it's been so long since I've released music and I've been working hard in the background and can't wait to share."
Assad reveals how the song came about. "Jeremi (Assad's collaborator) suggested I cover Sade's Pearls while we were sitting around in my living room one December day listening to Love Deluxe. It's my favorite Sade song, and a few days later I wrote the piano arrangement that eventually became the foundation for this track. Jeremi and I bounced it back and forth adding and arranging things, and this is the fruit. I'm so proud of it and so grateful to have been part of making this. Much more new music to come, but today is about this song. thank you so much for listening."
"Pearls" was originally released on Sade's 1992 fourth album Love Deluxe. The album produced hits such as "Feel No Pain," "No Ordinary Love," "Cherish the Day," and "Kiss of Life." Love Deluxe peaked at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart. In the United States, the album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, and as of May 2003, it had sold 3.4 million copies. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified it four-times platinum on 9 November 1994, denoting shipments in excess of four million copies.
