Matthew West is ASCAP Christian Songwriter of the Year for the 4th Time

The annual ASCAP Christian Music Awards honors the most performed Christian music of the past year. For the fourth time in his career, Matthew West is named ASCAP Christian Songwriter of the Year, honoring his work on hit songs including Jeremy Camp's "Keep Me in the Moment" and Casting Crowns' "Love Moved First" and "Start Right Here."
With over 130 songwriting credits for artists including Rascal Flatts, Scotty McCreery and Amy Grant and an equally impressive solo career, West was also recognized as ASCAP Christian Songwriter-Artist of the Year in 2013, 2015 and 2016. He is a five-time Grammy nominee and currently on tour with Casting Crowns through the end of October.
West is grateful for the honor. "I'm so grateful to be named American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP) Christian Songwriter of the Year! I started as a college grad with big dreams to share God's word through lyrics. I still have those big dreams and a whole lot more stories to tell! Thank you to my ASCAP family, my record label Provident Label Group, and everyone who has allowed me to share their stories through songwriting."
Recently, West released a new version of his hit single "What If" as a duet with multi-genre artist Lathan Warlick. "I've become such a fan of Lathan!" West shares. "His talent is as unique as his story and I was blown away by what he brought to 'What If.' I can't wait for the world to hear this new version!"
The original version of "What If," found on West's latest release Brand New, is currently rising at radio and has been its top-testing song for the past six weeks. West has also co-written three additional songs currently in the top 20: Casting Crowns' "Scars In Heaven," "My Jesus" from Anne Wilson, and "Look What You've Done" by Tasha Layton.
