Greg Laurie’s Major Motion Picture "Jesus Revolution" Now Streaming on Netflix

"Jesus Revolution," the breakout Hollywood film about the true story of a national spiritual awakening in the early 1970s and its origins within a community of teenage hippies in Southern California, is now available on Netflix in the US.
The story of the movie's success was featured in the cover story in the Aug. 4 - 11, 2023, issue of "Newsweek," entitled, "Jesus Takes Hollywood: 'Sound of Freedom' Is the Latest Mega-Hit in a Surge of Faith-Based Movies and TV Shows." The story revealed that "Jesus Revolution" has become distributor Lionsgate's "biggest release in over four years."
Set in the 1970s, young Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney) is searching for all the right things in all the wrong places: until he meets Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), a charismatic hippie street preacher. Together with pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer), they open the doors of Smith's languishing church to an unexpected revival of radical and newfound love, leading to what Time magazine dubbed a "Jesus Revolution." Greg Laurie, a so-called "Jesus Freak," went on to become senior pastor of the church he founded, Harvest Christian Fellowship in California and Hawaii, as well as an evangelist, delivering the gospel message at annual Harvest Crusades.
With 231 million subscribers in 190 countries, Netflix is the most subscribed to video service in the world. As such, it offers an unrivaled platform to extend and expand the impact of "Jesus Revolution."
Lionsgate operates the largest independent motion picture company in the world. The Lionsgate brand is synonymous with bold, original and relatable entertainment for global audiences.
When asked about the widening impact of "Jesus Revolution," Greg Laurie said,
"The timing of 'Jesus Revolution' is incredible. I believe God's hand has been on it from the beginning. The Jesus Movement was the last great American spiritual awakening. Some historians have said it was the greatest revival of all time. Our prayer continues to be that this film will prompt Christians everywhere to say, 'Do it again, Lord!' And He is!
"We held a baptism earlier this year at the same site where 'Jesus Revolution' was filmed. 20,000 people showed up and stood in a line a half-mile long to be baptized. 4,500 people were baptized that day, making it the largest mass baptism in American history.
"Of the many I personally baptized, their point of reference was how the 'Jesus Revolution' film impacted them, and now they wanted to follow Christ and be baptized in the same spot where we had these events during the Jesus Movement and where part of the film was made. It was a classic example of 'life imitating art.'"
