Rory Feek Weds Daughter's School Teacher Eight Years After the Passing of Joey

Rory Feek weds his daughter's school teacher, eight years after the passing of his wife, Joey. Joey Feek, one half of the country and bluegrass duo Joey + Rory, died on March 4, 2016, after a battle with cervical and colorectal cancer. She was 40. Nearly a year after Joey's death, the duo won a GRAMMY for Best Roots Gospel Album for their album, Hymns That Are Important to Us.
Rory Feek, 59, gushed about his July 14 nuptials in a blog post dedicated to the event held in Greycliff, Montana, sharing how the journey to his second marriage began.
"Rebecca and I had committed to be together. To choose each other and see where it might lead. And although we knew marriage was a possibility, it wasn't something that either of us felt like we could seriously talk about," he shared
"Mostly because up until that time Indiana only saw Rebecca as 'Miss Rebecca' her schoolteacher and our friend. And although she had become much more than that to me, I was very careful to let Indy 'figure it out' on her own. And honestly, I wasn't really sure if she ever could, or would, at all."
He explained that both he and his partner were conscious of his daughter Indiana, 10, especially since they had suffered the loss of her mother Joey in 2016, after a two year battle with cervical and colorectal cancer.
"Her love for her Mama is so great and so big in her life. Neither Rebecca or I wanted to hurt that in any way.... And so we just waited and watched to see if it might ever occur to Indiana that Rebecca could be more than just a friend to her Papa, and to her."
At their wedding, Rory surprised Rebecca with the song, "I Do," inspired by Rebecca's unparalleled love. The ceremony and his performance was captured on video and shared on his YouTube channel. But the picturesque event and the surprise song wasn't even Rory's favorite part of that special day.
