Leslie Jordan Pays Tribute to Her Grandfather on New Single “Athensville”

Grammy-nominated songwriter & artist Leslie Jordan has released a new single titled "Athensville," which is part of her upcoming album, The Agonist. This album draws inspiration from the journal of her late grandfather, Robert S. Gott.
"Athensville" reflects on her grandfather's experiences growing up in Crawfordsville, Indiana, known as the "Athens of Indiana." The song delves into themes of societal divisions and the aspiration to rise above one's circumstances. Jordan collaborated with Stefan Cashwell and Seth Talley in writing this track, which was recorded at Far Cry Studios in Los Angeles.
The Agonist is scheduled for release on April 25, 2025.
Here is the official music video for "Athensville":
Jordan is a worship leader, singer-songwriter, and former member of the Christian music duo All Sons & Daughters, alongside David Leonard. Originally from Tennessee, she served as a worship leader at Journey Church in Franklin, where she and Leonard formed the duo in 2010. Known for their folk-inspired, acoustic worship sound, they released several albums, including Season One (2012), Live (2013), and Poets & Saints (2016), with popular songs like "Great Are You Lord", "Brokenness Aside", and "Called Me Higher."
In 2018, they disbanded to pursue individual callings, and Leslie has since continued her work in worship ministry, songwriting, and mentoring young artists.
