"Savior of My Heart," New Single from Alabaster Grace, Celebrates the Easter Season

Husband and wife duo Alabaster Grace, comprised of Brad Perry, a highly decorated former NASA rocket scientist and the pastor of Historic White Marsh Church in Lancaster, Virginia, and Joanie Perry, a long-time educator, have released their latest single, "Savior of My Heart," to celebrate their gratitude for the Easter season.
The song is based on 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (ESV): O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
"Savior of My Heart" presents an upbeat and hopeful message recognizing Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world and also, more intimately, as the Savior of the hearts of His believers. It is a perfect song to celebrate the risen Savior.
Joanie Perry, Alabaster Grace's primary songwriter and lead vocalist, penned the new song, while Brad Perry wrote and played the lead guitar parts, and added background vocals. Together, Joanie and Brad Perry further developed the song and crafted the arrangement along with multiple Dove Award winner Chris Bevins (producer and keyboards for Selah, Salvador, Jaci Velasquez, and Christine D'Clario).
"Opening with a nostalgic, grateful tone, Alabaster Grace weaves gratitude all throughout their new song, 'Savior of My Heart,'" says Bevins. "We're reminded that God, in His unmatched power and mercy on a global scale, reaches us on a direct, personal level as well. Savior of the world, You are the Savior of my heart, sings Joanie, as Brad echoes the refrain on guitar. Alabaster Grace is reminding us of all that we have to be thankful for as children of God. Even death has lost its sting, and we can join this song of gratitude and love to our Savior."
In addition to serving as keyboardist, Bevins, in turn, brought in some of Nashville's other top studio musicians for the recording, including drummer Dan Needham (Amy Grant, Jeremy Camp, Michael McDonald, Sting), guitarist Mike Payne (Casting Crowns, Francesca Battistelli, Mandisa, Lauren Daigle, Natalie Grant), and bassist Jacob Lowery (Gaither Vocal Band, Seth & Nirva).
"'Savior of My Heart' came about as the result of our desire for a song to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. After much prayer, inspiration was initially received for just voice and guitar. However, we wanted to expand the arrangement to have a fuller sound, and when we met with our producer, Chris Bevins, he brought a fresh and energetic perspective," says the duo as they recall the writing and recording process.
