"TRUTH & TREASON," Story of How Story Three Teenagers Resisted the Nazi Regime, Comes to Theaters

Today, during their presentation at CinemaCon, Angel, the film & TV platform curated by nearly one million members of the Angel Guild, announced the addition of TRUTH & TREASON to their 2025 theatrical slate.
Based on a true story, the film follows Helmuth Hübener, a heroic 16-year-old in Nazi Germany who fearlessly formed a resistance group with his friends Karl and Rudi after witnessing the arrest of his Jewish friend. Produced by Kaleidoscope Pictures, Angel will release the film in theaters worldwide beginning on October 17, 2025.
The project was previously announced as a limited series titled Truth & Conviction, but shortly after filming began, the producers and Angel Studios realized that this project was destined for big screens.
"TRUTH & TREASON is a riveting, edge-of-your-seat film, where one teenage boy stands against the deadliest threat the world has ever faced," said Brandon Purdie, EVP & Head of Theatrical at Angel.
"Matt Whitaker's direction brings Helmuth Hübener's incredible story to life, thrilling and inspiring audiences while leaving them profoundly moved. Stories of this magnitude were made for the biggest screen possible-a cinematic experience best felt in a theater, where every moment resonates with full intensity."

"I was fortunate to discover one of the most powerful stories to come out of WWII, and almost no one has heard of it. I can't wait for the world to experience this incredible story of heroism," said writer-director Matt Whitaker.

Helmed by Whitaker (Saints and Soldiers), who co-wrote with Ethan Vincent, Truth & Treason is produced by Russ Kendall (Instrument of War) and John Foss (The Card Counter). Filmed on location in Lithuania with Baltic Film Services (Chernobyl, Stranger Things), the film features cinematography by Bianca Cline (Rust, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) and original score by Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, The Six Triple Eight).
