Gene McDonald Announces "Forgiven and Free" DVD & CD Release September 26

Beloved bass/baritone Gene McDonald, a longtime favorite of the Gaither Homecoming stage, is set to release his brand-new DVD & CD project, Forgiven and Free, on September 26, 2025. The collection, available for pre-order now, features McDonald's unmistakable voice on timeless Gospel classics along with a heartfelt interview hosted by Bill Gaither.
A personal tribute to the music and ministry of Bill & Gloria Gaither and George Beverly Shea, Forgiven and Free showcases McDonald's rich tones and genuine faith through songs such as "I'd Rather Have Jesus," "Thanks to Calvary," and "He Touched Me." With both a DVD and CD included, fans can experience McDonald's performances visually and sonically, capturing not only his vocal artistry but also the testimony of God's grace woven throughout his story.
"This project is very personal to me," says McDonald. "These songs have carried me through seasons of life, and I'm honored to share them as a reminder that we are truly forgiven and free in Christ."
Classically trained at Arkansas State University and the St. Louis Conservatory of Music, Gene McDonald began his career in Gospel music as a member of the Plainsmen Quartet before joining the celebrated Gaither Vocal Band and later becoming a featured soloist with the Gaither Homecoming Tour. Known for his deep, resonant bass/baritone voice and humble spirit, McDonald has spent decades bringing hope and encouragement to audiences around the world. His solo recordings and live performances reflect a lifelong passion for sharing the Good News through song.
