Colton Dixon, Miracle Tour Comes To An End, Decides To Spend Some Time Vacationing With His Family
Colton Dixon, 'American Idol' finalist from season eleven, just finished up the Third Day, 'Miracle Tour,' and has decided to take some time to relax on a cruise with his family.
The tour ran from February 21 through May 10. It began in Fairfax, Virginia, and set out to hit 45 cities throughout its duration. During the tour, Dixon featured music from his recent 2013 album, 'A Messenger,' which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums/ Gospel charts and No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, according to breathecast.
Dixon's first single released off of the new album was a song entitled 'Never Gone,' which he explained reflected his experience on 'American Idol' when he experienced a feeling of isolation from reality, breathecast reports. During that time Dixon began to question God's presence but, "God always answered...I was never gone," he said. Ironically, Angie Miller performed Dixon's 'Never Gone' during this past season of 'American Idol.'
'Never Gone' sold over 28,000 copies, while Dixon's second single, 'You Are,' peaked at No. 20 on the U.S. Hot Christian Songs Chart and sold nearly 50,000 copies, breathcastreports.
Dixon tweeted on May 20 saying, "Morning peeps! Hope everyone enjoyed the #Miracle Tour that came out! It's officially vacation time for the Dixon clan:-)."
It seems that the 'Dixon clan' planned on vacating in style on a cruise ship, away from the distractions of the world and, inevitably, Dixon's growing popularity. However, it's not always easy to enjoy family time when you're famous and bound to run into at least a fan or two wherever you go.
On May 20, Dixon wrote on his Facebook page, "To the girl who asked for a picture on the cruise: I apologize if I came across rude:-/. I feel bad for saying no... I was just trying my best to politely say that I wasn't trying to draw attention away from family time. I hope you understand, and hope you enjoy your cruise."
This message seemed to spark anger and distaste from some of his fans, however, others applauded Dixon's decidation to his family and understood his interest in privacy.
Later on, Dixon added to the post saying, "It's a shame to see so many quick to judge. Those who know me well, know that I'd stand in line all night if I had to for fans. But this is time set aside for family. I'm sorry to those who don't understand, but we haven't had family time since before American idol. We are just trying to be normal. Hope I haven't offended anyone. My music and mission are still the same. Fame is not my mission nor will it ever be. I agree with all who say that fans are a big reason why I have the platform to begin with. I so appreciate the opportunity. But like I said, just trying to catch up on family time. Love you guys."
