Moto X+1 Release, Latest News: Set for September 4; Comes with 25 Back Panel Options; Can Sync with Moto 360 Smartwatch
Motorola's next iteration for its Moto X, fittingly named Moto X+1, will likely be unveiled on September 4 according to Know Your Mobile. On that date, said the tech site, Motorola will be hosting an event in Chicago. In the invitation to the event, there is an illustration that suggests there will be announcements relating to the Moto 360 smartwatch, a new Moto G handset, a new Bluetooth headset device and the Moto X+1.
Other details about Moto X+1 have also already been long leaked on the Internet. It may for instance come with 25 back panel options including wood (Teak, Bamboo, Rosewood, Ebony) and leather (Black, Red, Grey, Blue) according to Android Central. It may have a bigger speaker and a Qualcomm 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor according to Droid-Life. The handset may feature a 5.2-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 424 ppi pixel density, a 12 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera, a 4K video, Android 4.4.4, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage, and 2900mAh battery according to Phandroid.
It is of course expected that Moto X+1 should be able to link up and synchronize with the upcoming Moto 360 smartwatch which comes with a heart rate monitor and a pedometer, a 1.5-inch LCD display, and features 320×290 pixels of resolution. The next iteration of Motorola's Moto X series will likely be priced around $400.
According to Phone Arena, Motorola has 8 devices in production (DROID, DROID Maxx, DROID Turbo, Moto X+1, Moto G, Moto X Play, Moto S, and Nexus), but it is possible that only 6 of them are released before the end of the year, depending on which ones would most appeal to consumers. As gathered by the site, if the Moto X+1 does well, the DROID Turbo may be scrapped, and only one of either the Moto X Play or the Moto S could be released, depending on the display size which users would most prefer.
