1976 Horror Flick 'The Omen' Gets a Series Reboot on Fox With Initial 6 Episodes
After being rebooted in 2006 in a film starring Julia Stiles, Liev Schreiber, Mia Farrow, David Thewlis, and Michael Gambon; prepare to be frightened in front of your television screens as the original 1976 film gets a series reboot to be aired on Fox Television Studios with an early next year target release.
It has been confirmed recently that Lifetime ordered a straight-to-series order that will be based on the 1976 British/American suspense-horror film "The Omen," which tells the story of an American couple Robert and Katherine Thorn adopting an orphan after their son dies at birth. Robert was afraid to tell Katherine the truth, thinking that the news of their baby dying could give her severe mental distress. They brought up the orphan and named him "Damien." Strange events start to happen as the boy grows up, including a public hanging of the boy's nanny during his fifth birthday party and the boy's mysterious association with a large ominous dog.
Executive producers are Glen Mazzara, former "Walking Dead" showrunner, Ross Fineman and Pancho Mansfield, with the concept having developed by Fineman and Mazzara. The series will center on Damien Thorn's life as an adult and how he will soon realize and come to terms with his real identity as the Antichrist. The series will have an initial six episodes, according to Lifetime.
Lifetime is excited about this reimagining of the horror-suspense flick and is highly confident about Glen Mazzara's take of Damien as a dark, romantic, anti-hero; and combined with first-class storytelling and compelling characters that will truly create a unique story out of the 1976 original.
