'Glee' Season 6 FOX Release Date 2014 Will Focus on Cast Star Lea Michele's Rachel Berry
The hit show "Glee" is preparing for Season 6, which will be the FOX series final season. The final season will focus on Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) as she moves back to Lima giving up on her acting dreams.
"The final season is really its own story and its own location, and while the New York stuff will be alive, the final season is not New York-centric at all," co-creator Ryan Murphy shared at the 2014 Emmys.
He added, "It really [will be] a lovely, fitting season that ... dwells on the original people that were on the show and what happens to them and how they give back. That really is the last season. ... We'll revisit some of the new kids that came and went. There's a return of the Jane-Matt characters in a big way. It's really interesting, a very sweet, satisfying ending to the story."
Rachel "will return home to Lima to figure out what she wants to do next and, after discovering that Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) has disbanded the glee club, takes it upon herself to reinstate - and lead! - the group that helped launch her career."
We have learned that because of the ratings dip, but Season 6 will be shortened to 13 episodes from the normal 22.
Due to fewer episodes, the musical show that stars Lea Michele and Chris Colfer will return midseason as part of Fox's 2015 lineup. No exact date or time slot have been officially announced, but the network hopes to make Season 6 a big event for the fans in its final run of the series.
Everyone knows how much the cast and crew went through last season with the loss of Cory Monteith and the toll that it had on everyone and having to cut Season 5 a few episodes short as well. Creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are hoping to end the series on a high note with the upcoming shortened season.
Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter that he has a final idea for the last episodes. They will not be "New York-centric" after the series was uprooted from its former Ohio-set high school location."The final season is really its own story and its own location and while the New York stuff will be alive, the final season is not New York-centric at all," Murphy said at the time, noting there will be a time jump for the final episodes. "It really [will be] a lovely, fitting season that ... dwells on the original people that were on the show and what happens to them and how they give back. That really is the last season .... We'll revisit some of the new kids that came and went. There's a return of the Jane Lynch-Matt Morrison characters in a big way. It's really interesting, very sweet, satisfying ending to the story."
Ryan Murphy has been an incredibly busy guy and he is being rewarded for all of his hard work being nominated for a staggering 34 Emmy Awards for shows including HBO's The Normal Heart, FX's American Horror Story: Coven and Glee.
