Tom Hiddleston Shows Some Hank Williams Singing at the Michigan Music Fest
The "Avengers" and "Thor" star recently showed his Hank Williams singing live by covering some songs at Michigan's Wheatland Music Festival by the American country singer-songwriter, who Hiddleston is set to portray in the upcoming biopic titled, "I Saw The Light." He made a surprise appearance at the fest and sang two of Williams' hits: "Move It On Over" and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" alongside Rodney Crowell.
The always charming British actor and Internet's favorite guy in the world teases the audiences at the music festival with his singing prowess. Hiddleston is known for singing on stage, such as his renditions of "Bare Necessities" and "Get Lucky" but this is probably the first time that the public has ever heard him sing songs by Hank Williams - regarded as one of the most influential musicians of all time. It could also show that this is simply part of his getting into character for this most-anticipated role of his, now that is some serious dedication.
It was announced in January that Hiddleston bagged the iconic role as Hank Williams. Despite some negative responses about the casting of Hiddleston, for the reason that Hiddleston is British and Hank Williams was American. That is the biggest issue raised by some, but it seems that it has quietly mellowed down. Maybe that is a sign that they are giving Hiddleston the benefit of the doubt. Reports say that production will begin this October in Louisiana.
Williams, an Alabama native rose to fame in the 1950s with classic country songs "Your Cheating Heart" and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." His demise was due to alcohol-induced heart failure at only 29. The biopic will center on his personal life dealing with his rise to fame and his untimely passing.
