Lionsgate has officially set the release date of Power Rangers reboot movie to July 22, 2016. The official announcement was made by Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer and movie producer Haim Saban. During his announcement, Feltheimer said, "The Power Rangers stories and characters have been embraced by generations of audiences for more than 20 years, and today they are more powerful than ever."
The writers of "X-Men: First Class", Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, are writing the scripts for the reboot, while Haim Saban, Brian Casentini, Allison Shearmur and Roberto Orci are producing the movie. Lionsgate has not mentioned the movie's cast members and the director yet.
The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie reboot is going to bring back the American superhero film that revolves around 6 ordinary high-school kids who are given unique super powers and robots to defeat villains as a team, and save the world.
The first film was first produced in 1995, and was a financial success. It was based on the popular television series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers", which follow themes and concepts from a popular Japanese kids show. The 1995 movie also had some of its cast members from the original television series like Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost.
"Turbo: A power Rangers Movie" in 1997 followed the 1995 film.
On a side note, Taylor Lautner of "Twilight" and Liam Hemsworth from "The Hunger Games" are rumored to take the role of the Red Ranger. Cast members for the new movie may include Chloe Grace Moretz, Jack Gleeson, and Liam Neeson.
The new Power Rangers reboot movie will be showing alongside "King Arthur" by Warner Brothers, and in between the new Bourne and Planet of the Apes movies.
Power Rangers: The Movie reboot premieres on July 22, 2016.
