'Hell on Wheels' Season 4: The Death of Elam Ferguson

"Hell on Wheels" Season 4: The Death of Elam Ferguson
"Hell on Wheels" Season 4 has made probably the most shocking announcement is the history of the whole show. Elam Fergusson, one of the most loved, if not the most loved character in the show will have to die. It does not end there; he has to die in the hands of his friend Cullen Bohannon out of mercy.
This new twist in the story may not sit well with many fans as Elam is one of the very first characters introduced in the story. Aside from it being very shocking and unexpected, this death of a major character is perhaps one of the most unique in a TV series.
It has been customary for producers and writers to kill a major character as a season-ender. A classic example of this would be the death of Ned Start in "Game of Thrones." Elam's death, on the other hand sits right in the early part of the season. This death however, is not something that is originally planned by the producers.
To many fans, Elma's death may come as a surprise, something very unexpected. As for Common, the actor-rapper who played the role, it came as a necessity. Although he admitted he cherished the character and would love to keep on portraying him, the rapper needed to step out of the show to reinvigorate his music career.
It is understandable; running two very promising careers that are both blooming beautifully can be a bit too demanding. At the end of the day, you have to make that decision to choose one and let go of the other.
