Hang on to your seats as the much-awaited James Cameron sequel, Avatar 2, has been finally green lighted for a 2016 release! Avatar first appeared in theaters five years ago in 2010 and was known for beating the box office record of Titanic, which was also the work of Cameron.

Yes, the highest grossing film will finally have a sequel, an Avatar 2 movie, where it will be expanding the very universe the audiences has been introduced within the first film. What's more is that James Cameron has confirmed that there will not only be two Avatar movies but three! You read it right. Avatar 2 is part of a trilogy!

The upcoming sequel will star most of the original cast of the first movie including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Joel David Moore and Sigourney Weaver. There are some reports that the film will also mark the possible comeback of Giovanni Ribisi.

According to Cameron, Avatar 2 plot will focus on an entirely new place stating that the film, set a few years after the events of the first Avatar movie, will let the audience explore the Oceans of Pandora. In addition to that, he also explained that the film will not be named "Avatar 2" and will release the film with a higher frame rate.

According to Sam Worthington filming will begin by the fall of 2014.
