Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE Receives Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OTA
The official Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA Update is currently being pushed out for the International Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE with l9305N as its model number. This is the Galaxy S3 variant that is sold in the Nordic European region. Norway is the lucky country being the first to get this new firmware.
Have a check on your phone's notification panel starting today and make sure that you're running stock Android OS in order to receive the brand new KitKat update. It is expected that this update will arrive on Galaxy S3 LTE l9305N owners by the end of this month. The Android 4.4.4 OTA Update is the final KitKat build that is released, as Google is currently getting ready to release the Android L 5.0 OS Upgrade. The new update comes with some changes and developments that will make your Nordic variant of Galaxy S3 LTE that will make it run smoother and faster than ever before.
Some of the interesting changes that you will see after you install the new firmware update is the wireless printing support, white status bar icons, updated Samsung applications, CC (Closed Captions) support, full screen lockscreen album art, better memory management, better battery life and multiple other small tweaks. It will also fix some bugs that were present in the previous firmware version as well as adding security patches for a much more secure Android environment. The firmware is set to l9305NXXUFNI4 and it is rolling out in phases. The manual installation of the update can be applied in ten minutes if you know how to use ODIN tool.
How to install I9305XXUFNI3 Android 4.4.4 on Galaxy S3 LTE (GT-I9305)
Step-1: Extract the downloaded firmware zip using any extracting tool to get a .tar.md5 file with a few other files, which are optional
Step-2: Extract the Odin zip to get Odin3 v.3.09.exe with a few other files
Step-3: Switch off Galaxy S3
Step-4: Enter Download Mode. To do so press and hold Home, Power and Volume Down buttons together until a construction Android robot and a triangle appear on the screen. Press the Power button again to confirm to enter into Download mode
Note: Ensure that you have installed Galaxy S3 USB Drivers installed on the computer.
Step-5: Launch Odin as Administrator on the computer
Step-6: Connect the Galaxy S3 to computer using USB cable while it is in Download mode. Wait for some time until Odin detects the device. When the phone is connected successfully, the ID: COM box in Odin will turn light blue with COM port number. This step might take some time
Step-7: In Odin, click AP button and select the firmware file with .tar.md5 extension
Step-8: Enable Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes in Odin. Ensure Re-Partition checkbox is not checked
Step-9: Verify everything and click the Start button in Odin. The installation process should begin now and take a few minutes to complete
Step-10: When the installation process is completed, the phone will restart automatically. After the home screen appears on the phone, disconnect the phone from the computer
The Galaxy S3 LTE should now be updated with new I9305XXUFNI3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware. Also, you can choose to manually search for new firmware files under Settings>About Phone and Software Update menu, press 'Check Now' button to look for new firmware files.
