Pebble Steel Smartwatch Update: the Pebble Steel is now an Accessible Smartwatch, Pebble Announces Price Change
The Pebble Steel smartwatch was priced at $249, but now its price dropped to $199. The company says that the price change is permanent, and that it's not for competition.
The company claims that they lowered the price of their Pebble Steel to make the smartwatch more accessible for the market. This explains why the Pebble Steel is now available in more retailers, including Best Buy and Target. Other new retailers for the smartwatch include Sam's Club, Fry's Electronics and a few Sprint mobile shops.
With all the other smartwatches that followed this one, surely there's a hint of pressure here. With the features of this smartwatch, the new price may seem more fitting. What features?
The Pebble Steel has a high-end construction, and it's both fashionable and functional. By using an iPhone or Android control application, a growing number of apps can be added or deleted from the watch. It does the little but important things that you need from your phone, like weather reports and notifications. The Steel also offers a software upgrade. Yet, the watch can only hold 8 apps at a time, and its Fitness apps don't offer much. It also has no microphone, speaker, touch screen, or color display.
This Pebble also comes with a stainless steel chassis frame with a Gorilla Glass screen. This adds a little more of that classic, sophisticated feel to it. The watch comes either in a black leather band or a stainless steel band or both. Either way, this new Pebble Steel beats other smartwatches when it comes to its simplicity and good looks.
Compared to other smartwatches, Pebble surely wins in their display technology and battery life. A Pebble watch can last a week, and that's definitely important to most smartwatch pickers.
