'Utopia' Latest News, Reviews, Updates: Due to Bad ratings, 'Utopia' is Replaced by Fox
An experiment gone wrong?!
Completing the dream to build a new society is going to be a difficult task for the 'social experiment' reality program of FOX network. "Utopia" is not doing well in the ratings game. According to Nielsen survey and news reports, 'Utopia' TV program is way down in the viewers watch list; fourth on the list with two million viewers only. 'NCIS' of CBS network got 18.8 million while the program 'The Voice' of NBC got 13.7 million and 'Selfie' a program of ABC got 5.3 million viewers.
"Utopia" is a TV series revolving around ordinary people challenged to outlast each other in the backcountry of Southern California. To monitor all the moves of the players, the show has 130 camouflaged cameras. The show will test their improvisation technique, survival instinct and perseverance.
This venture will not only test their will to subsist, but dares the players to become substantial components of a new society. The program has 13 Utopians both male and female with ages ranging from 20 to 48 years old. The program runs for 365 days, ousting 3 participants every month.
According to LA Times, "Utopia" is the brainchild of John de Mol, the creator of 'Big Brother' and 'The Voice' programs. It started airing last September 7, 2014. It is not only seen in FOX, but fans of 'Utopia' can also check what's happening with the participants live from the Internet.
And here is more bad news for the program, FOX network decided to air the program only on Fridays. The TV series airs Fridays and Tuesdays; but because of the bad rating the network decided to replace Tuesday slot with the 'Master Chef Junior' program.
Ratings, ratings, ratings!! According to Media Analyst and Executive Patrick Keane getting low numbers in viewership is a sure way to end a show. Compared to scripted shows that are working with 50,000 dollars per minute budget, a reality television program spends around 10,000 dollars per minute only. Low-cost production, painless to discard!
Will the 'Utopians' be able to save their beloved society? With a 4.6 million viewership in their first episode and a shocking 2.4 million viewership in their second episode, "Utopia" TV series may need a total revamp!
