"The Evil Within" Released: It's Authentically Horror!
Shinji Mikami, the person behind the fame of "Resident Evil" has returned with his latest (allegedly his last), directoral piece- "The Evil Within". This action-packed game is a third-person horror survival shooter adventure initially popularized as the 'realization of authentic horror' deal.
Game Overview
This purely horror survival game is designed to maintain balance between action and horror elements. Its shooting adventure with its third-person feature greatly resembles the "Resident Evil 4"; although the display and imagery are crafted to be more unnerving and gruesome. The horror elements, on the other hand, are more psychological. For instance, the environment will change and shift in an instant to purposefully disorient players and caught them unguarded.
"The Evil Within" is said to be short in ammo; hence, players will have to resort to axes, knives, melee, land mines and traps. In some specific points within the game, stealth can also be used.
The game can only be played by a single player, but Mikami has revealed that Tango might experiment with multiplayer platforms- like the technique used in Dark Souls via DLC.
Game Controls
With an attempt of disassociating survival games with that of unintuitive, clunky controls, "The Evil Within" will permit the players to shoot while moving. Special items and weapons will be selected either through the "d-pad" or radial menu. Don't worry, time will significantly slow down while you're viewing the menu.
Like other recent games of horror in nature, such as the Dead Space, the heads-up-display (HUD) elements are kept minimal for immersion purposes, though this could be turned-off in the settings.
"The Evil Within" has three levels of difficulty, namely casual, survival, and "Akumu," which is Japanese means "worst dream." Its levels are unlocked every after an easier level is accomplished. The early stages of the game's development initially revealed that there'd be four levels all-in-all.
The official trailer was produced by Prologue Pictures under the direction of Kyle Cooper. It was made possible by practical effects only specifically the use of makeup and prosthetics. The trailer was shot 3 days, only. Watch it below:
"The Evil Within" was released Tuesday and is already available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PCs.
