Allegations Against Smokey Robinson Intensify as Fifth Woman Files Sexual Battery Report

Allegations against iconic Motown singer Smokey Robinson have escalated following the filing of a fifth sexual battery report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD). The new accuser, whose identity remains undisclosed, alleges that Robinson engaged in inappropriate and non-consensual conduct, adding to a growing number of claims against the 85-year-old performer.
Earlier this year, four former housekeepers filed a civil lawsuit accusing Robinson of sexual battery, assault, repeated rape, false imprisonment, and gender-based violence occurring between 2007 and 2024. The lawsuit also names his wife, Frances Robinson, alleging she enabled a hostile and abusive work environment. The plaintiffs are seeking at least $50 million in damages.
The LASD's Special Victims Bureau is actively investigating the allegations. Robinson has denied all accusations, calling them "false and malicious," and has filed a $500 million countersuit against the original plaintiffs for defamation and extortion. His legal team has dismissed the new claims as "baseless" and an attempt to capitalize on media attention.
These allegations follow a 2015 investigation into Robinson over a similar claim, in which prosecutors declined to pursue charges citing insufficient evidence.
Despite the legal turmoil, Robinson recently released his highly anticipated gospel-soul album What The World Needs Now through Gaither Music Group. The project, blending spiritual covers and new original compositions, has been praised for its uplifting themes amid a challenging season for the legendary artist. Robinson is also slated to embark on his Legacy Tour later this year, celebrating the 50th anniversary of his landmark album A Quiet Storm.
The criminal investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
